35 Black churches to receive total of $4 million for preservation work

(RNS) — Virtually 3 dozen historic Black spiritual sites will obtain a $4 million infusion of funding to support them with renovations and preservation of their structures throughout the place.

The National Rely on for Historic Preservation’s African American Cultural Heritage Motion Fund announced Monday (Jan. 16) that 35 church buildings are the recipients of the very first spherical of its Preserving Black Church buildings grants. The Lilly Endowment is funding the $20 million initiative.
